Statement from the Artist

Landscape continuously inspires. I am presently concentrating on expressiveness, resonance and maybe a bit of drama. My pieces start with representations of landscapes but evolve into abstractions, compositional elements, movement, and color. Finished pieces may not, in the end, resemble specific scenes, and that is ok. Additionally, I have been exploring the use of lights and darks (Japanese Notan) as a compositional tool for two or three years. The painting process is dynamic and always challenging, but the lessons are hard won gifts..
